Valorant Review – Tactical Shooting With a Hero Twist

Valorant Review – Tactical Shooting With a Hero Twist

Valorant mixes the precise shooting of classic tactical shooters with agents that each have unique abilities. Two teams of five take turns attacking and defending, and one well-placed shot can decide a round. It is tense, competitive and very rewarding when you get it right.

Gunplay

Accuracy matters more than anything. Moving while shooting makes your bullets inaccurate, and headshots are deadly. Learning to stop, aim and control recoil is the first big step, and it can take weeks before you feel confident.

Agents

Agents are split into roles such as Duelists, Controllers, Initiators and Sentinels. Some throw smoke to block vision, some scout with drones and others heal or build walls. Good teamwork with abilities can win rounds even against players with better aim.

Servers and performance

Ping to the regional servers is generally good from Malaysia on a stable home connection, which makes a big difference in a game where milliseconds matter. Valorant also runs on modest PCs, which makes it common in cyber cafes and on budget gaming laptops.

Ranked experience

Ranked mode is where the game becomes very serious. Good matches are thrilling, but bad teammates, smurfs and toxic voice chat can be draining. Taking breaks and muting when needed is important.

Monetisation

Skins are purely cosmetic, so there is no pay to win. However, premium bundles are expensive, and it is easy to spend more than you expect on a favourite weapon skin.

Verdict

If you enjoy competitive shooters and are willing to practise, Valorant is one of the best free games on PC. Just be ready for a steep learning curve and some stressful ranked nights.
